Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) - High temperature salt corrosion of metals

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.

We are looking for talented people to join us.

Your responsibilities include:

Scientific work in the project "Material degeneration phenomena of high- temperature alloys by molten salts":

Characterisation of the formation kinetics of corrosion products in the interfaces of metallic materials in molten salts

Characterisation of corrosive surface degradation by diffusion of elements along interfaces

Publications on the research topic in specialist journals and in presentations at scientific conferences

Your qualifications:

University degree (diploma/ master's degree) in the fields of solid state physics, solid state chemistry or comparable

A completed doctorate in thematic proximity to the research topic is advantageous

Knowledge of nucleation, transport and growth processes in polycrystalline solids

Knowledge of heterogeneous equilibria in solids

Knowledge of models (e.g. CALPHAD) is advantageous

Good communication and Information behaviour, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment, ability to work in a team/willingness to cooperate and willingness to learn
