The Utzat Research Group at the UC Berkeley College of Chemistry is seeking postdoctoral researchers with diverse backgrounds. We are a new experimental team (launching in July 2022) interested in nano-optics, optical spectroscopy, and optical materials. Our goal is to establish the basic and applied science of nanoscale light-matter interaction with an eye on translational applications in (quantum) optoelectronics and ultrasensitive optical detection.

Available Positions and Requirements:

1. Development of advanced optical metrology of solid-state single-photon emitters. The successful candidate will have a strong background in building optical setups, condensed matter dynamics, cryogenics, and quantum optics. Excellent programming skills are highly desirable.

2. Chemical synthesis of lead-halide perovskites and modification of 2D materials for optoelectronics beyond solar. The successful candidate will have a strong background in inorganic materials synthesis and characterization. Experience with top-down nanofabrication and nanophotonics is a plus.

3. Implementation of novel optical metrology of single proteins. The successful candidate will have a strong background in optical spectroscopy and/or quantum optics. Experience with single-molecule Raman spectroscopy or nanophotonics is a plus.
