Description

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work in the area of design and analysis of algorithms. The start date is negotiable but preferably before 2 March 2023.

The position is available in connection with a research grant held by Dr. Ramanujan Sridharan (https: // msramanujan.weebly.com) in collaboration with Professor Graham Cormode (https: // warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/dcs/people/grahamcormode) and the main objective is to pursue cutting edge research in the intersection of approximation algorithms and kernelization, and streaming algorithms (https: // msramanujan.weebly.com/multiprocess-project.html).

You will have a strong background in the mathematical analysis of algorithms, with a specialization in one of the following areas: graph algorithms, kernelization or approximation algorithms. You will have (or expect to obtain shortly) a PhD in the relevant area.

You should provide with your application form a CV, including a list of publications, three references, a research statement, and a short statement highlighting your suitability for this post.

You will be formally based in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Warwick, and you will be associated with the Centre for Discrete Mathematics and its Applications (https:// www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/crossfac/dimap) and the Division of Theory and Foundations at the University of Warwick.

If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure (£31,411 pa). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£32,348 pa).

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To undertake cutting edge research in the area of design and mathematical analysis of algorithms.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• To carry out high quality research in the area of algorithms and complexity and to publish results in leading international conferences and journals in computer science and mathematics.

• To attend and present research findings and papers at academic conferences.

• To assist in the organisation of research meetings/workshops in the areas relevant to the project.

• To contribute fully to the research activities (including the seminars and workshops and visitor programme) in the Centre for Discrete Mathematics and its Applications (DIMAP) and the Division of Theory and Foundations in the Department of Computer Science.
