美国杰克逊基因组医学实验室2023年招聘博士后职位
美国杰克逊实验室(The Jackson Laboratory)建立于1929年,是一个非盈利性的独立研究机构。
Postdoctoral Associate | Endometriosis
The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our research team in the field of human reproductive science and women's health. The successful candidate will be working on an exciting project focused on studying endometriosis at the single cell resolution using spatial and single cell ‘omics, 3D cell culture assays and multiomic approaches.
Endometriosis is a common and chronic gynecological disorder that affects approximately 1 in 10 female-born individual of reproductive age worldwide. It occurs when tissue resembling the endometrium, grows outside of the uterus in other parts of the body, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvic cavity, forming lesions. This can cause pain, inflammation, and infertility, and can have a significant impact on a woman's quality of life. In addition to the physical symptoms, endometriosis can also cause emotional distress and anxiety. Despite its high prevalence and significant impact, endometriosis etiology and pathophysiology remain poorly understood and it is thought to be related to hormonal imbalances, genetic factors, and immune system dysfunction. Endometriosis has currently no cure, and treatments are often focused on managing symptoms and preserving fertility, with non-efficient strategies and significant side effects.
Research into the underlying mechanisms of endometriosis, particularly at the molecular level, is critical to improving our understanding of the disease at the local and systemic level, and developing more effective treatments. The use of single-cell omics and spatial omics approaches holds great promise for uncovering new insights into the pathophysiology of endometriosis and identifying potential therapeutic targets.
The ideal candidate should have PhD in molecular biology or another relevant life-science discipline and have prior training in cell and molecular biology and/or immunology, wet lab and computational experience. The successful candidate will have access to JAX’s unique postdoctoral training program, which offers exceptional opportunities for professional development through mentoring, extensive support for grant/fellowship writing, and access numerous workshops and courses. Exceptional candidates can show early independence through the JAX Scholars Program. JAX has a vibrant and interactive research community with unparalleled resources and state of the art facilities for single cell, computational science, mass spectrometry, imaging science, and genome technologies.
Responsibilities:
·Utilize cutting-edge technological assays such as single cell & spatial omics, metabolomics, and 3D cellular systems to study endometriosis at the single cell level.
·Characterize endometriosis at the local and systemic levels using human samples from endometriosis patients.
·Perform data analysis and interpretation of results to identify new insights into the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying endometriosis.
·Collaborate with other team members and external partners to integrate data across different omics platforms.
·Present research findings at scientific conferences and publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements:
·A Ph.D. in a relevant field such as reproductive biology, immunology, molecular biology, genetics, or bioinformatics, or related field of study
·Experience in single cell & spatial omics, or multiomic approaches.
·Experience with cell culture, 3D cellular models is preferred
·Strong programming skills in Python, R or Matlab and in data analysis and interpretation using bioinformatics tools.
·Experience working with human samples, especially in the context of reproductive biology or women's health.
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
·Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
·Strong written and oral communication skills
·Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
This is a full-time position for a period of two years, with the possibility of extension depending on funding availability and performance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and dynamic research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources.
To apply, please send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references, and 1-page (maximum) statement of Research Interests and Career Goals at time of application. **
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
