Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) in Power Electronics Control for Renewable Energy Integration in Microgrids, Instrumentation & Control, Simulation, and Safety Analysis of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada.
Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF), Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering
Position Information:
In support of the current research programs, we are currently recruiting to fill several postdoctoral (PDF) research positions immediately in our research group. Qualified candidates should hold Ph.D. degrees in one or more of the following areas: power system engineering, power electronics, control engineering, and energy systems, or nuclear engineering, thermal energy systems, safety analysis, and have a demonstrated record of research accomplishment in relevant fields. Practical research or working experience in one or more above areas is highly desirable and will be treated as a plus. Recently Ph.D. graduates are also welcome to apply.
The specific research topics will be determined through further consultation depending on the background and interests of the applicants. However, they should include, but not be limited to:
Stability analysis of microgrids with renewable energy resources, optimal sizing of energy storage devices, monitoring and operation of microgrids in remote locations, integration of multiple microgrids, and control of grid-forming inverters for coordination with rest of microgrid elements.
Coordinating control for load-following operations, dynamic simulation of integration of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) with renewable energy resources, and monitoring and operation of SMRs in remote locations through advance communication technologies.
We provide an excellent research environment for those who want to develop themselves and their career potential. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to cooperate with other PDFs, Ph.D. students, and other senior researchers in energy systems, power systems, and automation areas under the supervision of Dr. Jing Jiang. The Post-Doc fellows will also have opportunities to engage with all relevant project partners from other academic institutions, government labs, and industry sectors throughout Canada and internationally.
Further information on the research group can be seen at http://cies-western-eng.ca/jjiang/home.htm
Key responsibilities for successful candidates include leading research in the chosen area through problem definition, planning, design, data analysis, experiments, and drafting manuscripts for publications.
