Postdoctoral Position, Hematology

NIHCC

Position Description:

A post-doctoral scientist position is available, offering an opportunity to conduct research on hematologic malignancies including myelodysplastic syndrome, acute myeloid leukemia, and lymphoid malignancies. Of particular interest are germline and somatic mutations predisposing to hematologic malignancy and premalignant conditions, immunodeficiencies, and/or autoimmune disorders leading to bone marrow failure.

Development of malignancy in patients with germline predisposition may be preceded by progressive cytopenias, clonal hematopoiesis, acquisition of somatic mutations and/or cytogenetic alterations, and changes in cellular morphology and immunophenotypic properties. Disease progression may occur slowly over many years or rapidly requiring stem cell transplantation. Insights into molecular mechanisms of disease progression may be studied using multiple technologies including NGS, miRNA and transcriptional profiling, ATAC-seq, digital spatial profiling technology, protein based technologies, flow cytometry, or other methods. Functional studies in cell lines may be employed for further elucidation of molecular mechanisms leading to aberrant cell proliferation, differentiation, survival and other processes orchestrating malignant evolution.

Our group is located within the Hematology Section of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, NIH Clinical Center on the main Bethesda NIH campus.

Requirements

1.Ph.D. in biology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or related discipline.

2.Prior experience in cancer or immunology research.

3.Ability to conduct research independently and work collaboratively with other scientists.

4.Strong data analysis and writing skills.
