for the position of:

Postdoctoral Researcher at Laboratory of Neurobiology

Number of available positions: 1

Requirements:

· Postdoctoral candidates should hold a PhD degree (at the time of starting the employment) in one of the following fields: neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, biophysics or similar.

· We require excellent work organization skills, a creative approach to research problems, team collaboration skills and motivation.

· Experience in laboratory work is necessary.

· Doctoral degree obtained not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project. The period of 7 years may be extended by the duration specified in the NCN regulations.

· Good command of written and spoken English .

Project description:

This is the NCN-funded project on understanding molecular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity. The technical approach involves photo-uncaging of neurotransmitter Glutamate to activate individual excitatory synapse to increase its size and efficacy. We are particularly interested in a role played in this phenomenon by MMP-9, extracellular matrix metalloproteinase.

Employment conditions:

· Type of contract: full-time employment contract till March 21st, 2025 with salary of 7 500 PLN (net)

· Recent CV, including publication list.

· Copy of the Ph.D. diploma or a document informing about expected time of PhD graduation.

· Cover letter briefly describing previous research, scientific interests, future goals and why the candidate thinks s/he would be a fit in the lab.

· Copy of the candidate's best paper with a brief description (5-7 sentences) of the candidate's contribution to this work and why the candidate chose this article.

· Statement by the candidate that he/she will not receive remuneration from other projects funded by the National Science Centre.

· Declaration that the candidate will not take up other jobs during the period of employment in the project.
