Fixed term, full time position available for 24 months.

An opportunity exists for a talented postdoctoral researcher to join the T Cell Immunotherapy Lab (PI Dr Mara Zeissig) to work on novel immunotherapies for the treatment of solid cancers. The applicant should have experience in cellular immunology or cancer immunotherapy.

The Lab's research is focused on understanding how cancers evade the immune system to identify new ways to enhance response to immunotherapy. In particular, we work on cancers that are addicted to the oncogene KRAS such as lung, colorectal and pancreatic cancers. We utilise a range of tools including genetically engineered preclinical models of cancer, analysis of immune cell subsets, single-cell profiling and molecular biology techniques. We also harness large-scale genetic screening using CRISPR-Cas9 technology to find previously unknown targets and mechanisms that regulate response to immunotherapy.

About the project:

In this project, the candidate will be involved in an exciting new discovery project using CRISPR/Cas9 screens to identify new genes that improve T cell persistence and anti-tumour responses. New drug targets identified in the screens will be characterised in vitro and in vivo to assess the effects on tumour growth, immune infiltration and response to immunotherapy.

To be successful you will need:

PhD in Cancer Biology, Immunology or Cancer Immunotherapy (or near completion).

Excellent academic record and research experience that has resulted in publications, conference papers or reports

Experience with cellular immunology, flow cytometry, cell culture and molecular/biochemical techniques

Ability to contribute to a diverse and collaborative team environment and manage time effectively

High quality written and oral communication skills
