Mucosal Immunity and Intestinal Inflammation

POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS are available for research on mucosal immunity, intestinal immune homeostasis/intestinal inflammation, and innate immunity.

The laboratory investigates mechanisms regulating innate immune responses, host pathogen interactions, and immunological pathways that modulate mucosal immunity and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) pathogenesis. The current position will focus on elucidating molecular, cellular and biochemical mechanisms that regulate innate immune cells and other pertinent intestinal cell subsets, particularly in the context of genetic variants associated with IBD susceptibility. These studies leverage the tremendous success in the identification of IBD-associated genetic risk loci to define key pathways that regulate intestinal immune homeostasis and drive intestinal inflammation. Studies incorporate approaches in both primary human immune cells and in vivo mouse intestinal model systems.

Education and experience: Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree with a strong background in cellular and molecular immunology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. Experience in working with intestinal tissues, intestinal organoids, primary human cells, animal models of intestinal inflammation, multiparameter flow cytometry, and bioinformatics/computational biology is desired.
