Postdoctoral Fellow – Proteomics in Non-Mendelian Genetics

The Department of Developmental Genetics investigates the genetic control of non-mendelian inheritance triggered by the mouse t-haplotype, as well as mouse development and differentiation, employing state-of-the-art molecular biology and transgenic approaches.

The successful applicant will investigate the molecular mechanisms causing transmission ratio distortion in the mouse. In particular, the project will focus on protein complexes involved in post-transcriptional control of Smok/Tcr mRNA allowing haploid cell restricted expression of these genes. 
The project primarily involves purification and mass spec analysis of RNA/protein complexes from testis. Further investigation may involve RNA in situ hybridization and IHC analysis, PPI and P/RNAinteraction assays in cell culture systems, microscopy, molecular biology and transgene technology. 
Applicants should hold a recent Ph.D. degree, and have strong expertise in protein complex purification and molecular biology (cloning).
Applicants should have a record of sufficient quality to successfully apply for a long-term fellowship from international funding agencies, and will receive a Max-Planck postdoctoral fellowship for start-up; funding is secured for at least two years. The successful applicant may, after a successful fellowship phase, develop a research group of his/her own, provided external funding is secured. The position is available immediately.
