We are offering an 18-months position for a motivated postdoc in the field of computational analysis of metagenomics data obtained from human-associated viral communities in healthy and diseased individuals (see website: www.pathovirome.com for more information). The successful applicant will be involved in the development and the use of new methods and tools for handling, analyzing and interpreting sequencing data issued of next-generation sequencing technologies. The candidate will be integrated in a young and dynamic team. This team is part of the URMITElaboratory UMR7278 that is based on the campus of the Faculté de Médecine, Marseille, France. The laboratory is a multidisciplinary research unit composed of 12 research groups working around the same thematic of emerging infectious diseases.

Requirements
We are either looking for a bio-informatician with knowledge in microbial ecology or a microbial ecologist/microbiologist/virologist with strong knowledge in bio-informatics and an experience of manipulating high-throughput sequencing data – PhD in bioinformatics, (environmental) genomics, microbiology or equivalent – Good programming skills, proficiency in Unix/Linux – Experience with (meta)genomic data analysis – Good knowledge of (clinical) microbiology, virology and/or microbial ecology is a plus
