We are seeking highly motivated and talented scientists to work on cancer stem cell (CSC) biology. Three projects are currently available:

New CSC targets We have performed extensive shRNA librariy screens on CSCs to identify novel targets for specifically eliminating these cells. The postholder will be focusing on two candidate genes, for which we already generated preliminary in vitro data validating their potential as novel CSCtargets. The project will span a broad spectrum of advanced in vitro and in vivo techniques. All techniques have been developed/established in the lab, which is generously funded and equipped with all necessary state-of-the-art technology.

Circulating CSC. Our preliminary data using different circulating CSC-derived tumours now suggest great phenotypic diversity and even more pronounced therapeutic resistance. Thus, the postholder will focus on a project to identify and study stemness signatures and signalling cascades in metastatic CSCs as the most aggressive entity with the ultimate goal to develop novel treatment strategies for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer.
