The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture has a vacancy for a position of junior assistant. It concerns a temporary full-time position for a renewable period of two years.

A position of full-time junior assistant at the Department of Civil Engineering (t: +32(0)92643280; e: TomFO.DeMulder@ugent.be) 

Profile:

• hold a diploma of Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Master of Science in Electromechanical Engineering: Mechanical Energy Engineering, Master of Science in Electromechanical Engineering: Maritime Engineering, Master of Science in Bioscience Engineering: Land and Water Management, Master of Science in Mathematics, Master of Science in Physics and Astronomy or an equivalent diploma (last year students can also apply);
• be interested and motivated for teaching and research assignments in the field of hydraulics and hydraulic structures.

Job description:

• to provide assistance in the teaching duties of the department;
• to conduct scientific research in the discipline of hydraulics and hydraulic structures, in order to prepare a PhD (at least 50% of the time should be spent at doctoral research);
• to provide assistance in the scientific duties of the department.

Starting date: as soon as administratively possible

Applicants should measure up to the language proficiency as mentioned in article 91novies of the decree concerning the restructuring of higher education in Flanders. The administrative and teaching language used at Ghent University is Dutch, but in case one doesn’t speak Dutch, it is also possible to apply.

In accordance with the decree, in case the candidate has an education assignment, one should have proficiency in the language in which one teaches. This means that the candidate needs to have proficiency on an ERK-level (European Reference for Languages) C1.

Even if the candidate with an education assignment, isn’t teaching a training component in Dutch, one should have proficiency in the Dutch language on an ERK-level B2. One should meet the requirements within 3 years after the recruitment or appointment.
