Allergies are representing a global problem with increasing impact on our social life and economy. 

The aim of our research is to proactively characterize health risks for both humans and the environment, identify the mechanisms of pathogenesis and develop concepts for prevention and therapy of diseases.

The Centre of Allergy and Environmental Research ( ; ZAUM) is focussing on allergy and represents an institution that has been jointly funded by the Technical University and the Helmholtz Center Munich. This strong cooperation provides the ideal work environment that not only provides access to the Clinic " rechts der Isar " with all its translational research, but also to the vast possibilities of the research campus of the Helmholtz society, including cutting edge technologies and know-how. The institution is able to cover allergy in its range from Genetics, Environment, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Pulmonology, ENT, Immunology, cellular biology down to molecular biology and transgenics. The prevention of allergies and particular of asthma is a key interest of the center. In particular the shift from seasonal rhinitis to chronic asthma is a focus of basic research. The aim is to understand the underlying mechanisms and to develop strategies that could prevent this shift.
 

The ZAUM is seeking for a 
scientist (PostDoc) for establishing a research group 
in allergen immunity. 

Job description:

• The appointee will investigate mechanisms of specific immunity against allergens and/or allergic inflammation in the human context.
• Setup and supervision of a research group (successor Traidl-Hoffmann), take over of supervisory functions, Maintenance and development of cutting edge analysis strategies
• acquisition of grants
• supervision of students, postdocs and technical staff 

Your qualifications

• PhD in immunology, biology, veterinary or human medicine, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related life-sciences , postdoc experience, preferably in allergology
• track record in murine mucosal immunology, cell culture, molecular biology techniques
• scientific expertise demonstrated by international publications
• self motivated, independent and flexible working attitude, ability to supervise and motivated staff
