Postdoc Position at Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, USA

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Greenblatt, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, offering an opportunity to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary research group in New York City. The Greenblatt lab studies how signal transduction pathways shape bone formation by osteoblasts, and how dysregulation of these pathways contribute to both common metabolic disorders of the skeleton such as osteoporosis and rare heritable syndromes of skeletal fragility. Particular areas of focus include how the mitogen activated protein kinases, such as the ERK and JNK pathways control the physiologic differentiation and neoplastic transformation of discrete populations of mesenchymal stem cells and mature osteoblasts. Through the use of whole genome screening coupled with mouse genetics, proteomics and cellular biochemistry, we have discovered new signaling pathways mediating osteoblast differentiation and bone formation and are currently working to understand the therapeutic implications of these discoveries. Qualifications
•Qualified applicants will either have already completed or expect to complete soon a PhD in Biology or a related field.
•Specific experience working in bone biology is not required. 
•Experience with cellular biochemistry, including cloning and lentiviral expression systems is highly desirable.
•Experience working with mouse genetics and mouse models of human disease is desirable but not absolutely required. 
•All applicants should be self-motivated and have strong professional communication skills.
