Leukemia Research Postdoctoral Fellow : Duarte, Los Angeles area, CA, United States

A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately for motivated, creative post-doctoral candidates interested in molecular mechanisms of leukemogenesis and drug resistance of primitive leukemia cells. The lab is part of the newly established Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research emphasizes translation research at City of Hope. Specific areas of investigation relate to (i) epigenetic mechanisms of altered growth and survival of primitive leukemia cells versus normal hematopoietic stem cells (ii) aberrant intracellular signaling of tyrosine kinase mutation related myeloid leukemia. 

A Ph.D. degree or foreign equivalent is required for the postdoctoral position and the ideal candidate should be with less than three years of postdoctoral experience. A candidate with a strong background in molecular and cell biology is required; experience in proteomics studies or animal studies will be preferred. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, and ability to conduct research independently. The candidate would have experience using contemporary molecular biology techniques including construction of viral vectors, primary cell culture, immunoblotting, ChIP, RNA interference, and ability to implement a variety of assays as needed. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.

The laboratory is located in the Beckman Research Institute at City of Hope in Duarte, California. Located at the academically vibrant east suburb of Los Angeles, City of Hope is one of the NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation. We focus on a strong academic culture, with the neighboring campuses of Caltech, UCs, and USC. Unsurpassed opportunities for translational collaborations and patient samples exist. We are just outside Pasadena, nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. We're close to all of the entertainment and scenic attractions Southern California has to offer. Only a half hour to the beach, or an hour and a half to local skiing, the medical center and Beckman Research Institute are situated on a beautiful, 112-acre campus.
