We invite applications for a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher (MSC-ESR) Fellowship to start in October 2016 to work with Professor Tuomas Knowles and Dr Gonçalo Bernardes on the the fabrication and characterisation of protein micro- and nano-capsules.  The project will form part of a EC Marie Sklodowska-Curie Training Network (ProteinConjugates) that focuses on the challenge of rationally designing and constructing the next generation of chemically-defined and innovative protein drug-conjugates.  The work at Cambridge will be centred around the use of microfliudic systems to control the synthesis of supra-molecular protein assemblies and particles and their characterisation through biophysical means.

Applicants must satisfy the EC's eligibility requirements for MSC-ESR Fellowships, and must not have resided in the UK for more than 12 months in the last three years.  They should have (or expect to obtain) at least the equivalent of a UK upper second class honours degree (and preferably a Masters degree) in chemistry or materials science or a related discipline.  Applicants will be expected to work in an interdisciplinary environment and interact with an team of scientists with a wide range of expertise in biophysics and biophysical chemistry.  The Fellowship is offered in conjunction with a PhD position, subject to the Fellow satisfying the university's admissions requirements for PhD study.
