Postdoctoral Researcher Position at Ohio State University College of Medicine and Comprehensive Cancer Center : Columbus, OH, United States

Research Focus:

Dr. Deliang Guo’s lab focuses on EGFR/RTKs/PI3K/Akt/mTOR and Ras/MEK/ERK signaling, cancer metabolism, autophagy and miRNA. Recently, his lab identified EGFR/PI3K signaling upregulates SREBP-1, a membrane-bound transcription factor with a central role in lipid metabolism to control tumor growth (Guo, et al, PNAS, Science Signaling, 2009, Cancer Discovery 2011, Current Pharma Design 2014). Most recently, his lab unraveled the underlying molecular mechanism linking EGFR/PI3K signaling and glucose to SREBP-1-regulated lipid metabolism. They found glucose acting as an indispensable activator promotes SREBP signaling pathway via N-glycosylation modification on SCAP protein (please see Cheng et al., Cancer Cell, 2015).

Dr. Guo's work is committed to unraveling how oncogenic signaling regulates metabolism network, to unravel the link between glucose uptake and lipid metabolism, to identify the key molecular targets in this network and develop potent inhibitors to translate into clinical trial to eradicate cancer cells. Dr. Guo is dedicated to translational research, to assess molecular alterations in cancer patient tissues and obtain insights from bedside.

Dr. Guo is seeking a highly self-motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join his excellent research team to work on tumor metabolism interlinked with oncogenic signaling projects at The Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University. Dr. Guo’s research is currently supported by NIH (R01), the American Cancer Society and internal funds.

Summary of Duties
Perform basic or applied research in tumor metabolism and oncogenic signaling pathway, in which existing theory or methods may be limited or lacking. Identify and select problems to be studied. Learn and use new techniques. Design research, perform experiments, collect and analyze data, writing manuscript.

Education/Experience
Doctoral Degree in Ph.D. required; proficient in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology and mice work required. Familiar with miRNA is also considered. Previous tumor metabolism/lipid metabolism experiences are plus.
