Postdoctoral Fellow - Radiochemistry (1 Year Term) : Vancouver, Canada
TRIUMF, Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics, is currently accepting applications to fill an immediately available Postdoctoral position associated with a research project within our Life Sciences Division. This grant funded research project focuses on the development of molecular probes based on peptides or nanoparticles for cancer imaging. The molecular probes will be designed to target cell surface receptors which have a prominent role in angiogenesis.
If you are excited by the idea that you will oversee and implement the development of peptides or nanoparticles-based molecular probes to image angiogenesis, perform labeling of molecular probes, characterize biochemical properties of the molecular probes, and contribute to their preclinical evaluation, then this may be the perfect postdoctoral role for you.
As the successful applicant, you will be challenged with specific responsibilities providing the opportunity to:
• Synthesize the molecular probes
• Elucidate the behavior and the biochemical properties of the novel tracers.
• Analyze, report, and present scientific results at seminars, technical meetings, national and international conferences.
• Publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals
• Co-supervise co-op students and/or graduate students
As a creative, early-career scientist with an active interest in cancer research, you will need to demonstrate to the hiring manager that you have:
• Expertise and experimental background in peptide and nanoparticle chemistry
• Experience in analytical chemistry (e.g. HPLC, NMR, MS)
• The ability to work productively on multiple tasks and rapidly adjust to changing technical demands
• The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and experience in delivering presentations
• Experience in writing reports, publications, and proposals
• Open-minded, creative and energetic
• Ability and willingness to be trained at TRIUMF to be designated as a TRIUMF nuclear energy worker.
Your minimum qualification and experience will include:
• a recent PhD with a strong track record and background in a field related to Chemistry, Biochemistry or Radiochemistry
• Previous experience in solid-phase peptide synthesis and/or preparation of nanoparticles
• Hands-on experience in radiochemistry and molecular imaging will be considered an asset, as will experience in cell culture and biological assays.
Preference will be given to candidates with a proven ability to synthesize peptides and nanoparticles
