Postdoctoral position in Molecular Cancer Cell Biology : Oslo, Norway

A position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow is available at the Department of Molecular Cell Biology, Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital. The position is associated with the research group of Jørgen Wesche on the project “Identification of novel determinants of oncogenic FGFR signalling in cancer cell migration”. The project is financed by The Norwegian Cancer Society for a period of three years.

Job description:

The Postdoc will work on a project to elucidate the role of specific oncogenic mutations in Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor (FGFR) signaling. FGFRs are often found mutated in endometrial, bladder and lung cancer and in the childhood cancer Rhabdomyosarcoma. The goal is to identify determinants of oncogenic FGFR signaling that could be targets for precision medicine of FGFR aberrant cancers.

The project will involve: 1) Gene editing of cancer cells lines to study the role of oncogenic FGFR mutations. 2) Proteomics to identify differences between normal and oncogenic FGF receptors and identify determinants of oncogenic FGFR signaling. 3) Further characterization of determinants by molecular cell biology techniques and investigation of their role in FGF-induced cancer cell migration.

Previous experience with relevant methods and research within the research field will be considered an advantage.

Qualifications and Personal Skills:

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD) in life sciences or medicine. We seek a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in scientific research. The successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as collectively with other members of the research team. The applicant must speak and write English fluently.

The successful candidate must have experience with basic molecular cell biology techniques such as RNAi manipulation, cell transfection, as well as western blot analysis and immunofluorescence microscopy.
Experience with any of the following methodologies would be considered an advantage: Gene editing, live-cell imaging, cell migration and proteomics.
