Qualifications:
Qualified applicants should have a graduate (M.S. or Ph.D.) degree in the biological sciences and a minimum of 3 years of post-graduate full-time experience at the bench in the areas relevant to this position for M.S. candidates, or recent completion of a Ph.D. degree without additional work experience. Qualified applicants should possess extensive experience in cell culture and molecular biology applications, as well as the necessary computer skills for data analysis and presentation.
Relevant cell culture skills include mammalian cell culture of NS0, CHO, and HEK 293 cell lines, including aseptic operation of bioreactors at 3 – 10 Liter scale. Relevant molecular biology skills include, gene cloning, PCR, bacterial transformation, oligo design, electrophoresis, transfection, bacterial fermentation, cryopreservation, ELISA, Western blot, protein labeling, immunostaining. Computer skills include proficiency in MS Office and Excel, SoftMax-Pro/Gen-5, or equivalent.
Proficiency with HPLC, including Protein A, G, other affinity-based techniques, size exclusion and ion-exchange chromatography is a must.
Candidates should feel comfortable working in a high risk/potential high reward environment and able to work overtime and weekends as project needs are determined. Excellent communication skills and the ability to analyze and interpret data, design appropriately controlled experiments independently, and maintain up-to-date laboratory notebooks are a must. Additional desired skills include the knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), regulatory filings, preparation and delivery of oral and written presentations, and participation in the preparation and submission of manuscripts for publication. Short term travel may be required occasionally. Candidate must be authorized to legally work in the United States. |
