The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering has a thriving Research Centre for Biomedical Engineering (RCBE), with five permanent staff (including two professors), six postdocs and frequent visitors. Other areas of research in the department are Photonics & Instrumentation and Systems & Control.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Electrical & Electronic Engineering to carry out reseach in light- tissue interaction through simulations and in-vitro experiments.

The position is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council grant EP/N008499/1, for a fixed term of 12 months and is available from 1 February 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Responsibilities

The successful candidiate is expected to:

Carry out research both independently and as part of the research team in the Research Centre for Biomedical Engineering (RCBE), Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at City University London;

Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr Iasonas Triantis, on several areas of the EPSRC supported project `Improved Healing by combining Optical and Electrical Stimulation of Nerves (HOpES);

Prepare and make presentations on the work to the University and/or at major meetings and conferences, as specified by the Principal Investigator;

Write up the work, in consultation with the Principal Investigator, for journal and/or conference publications and/or reports for presentation;

Support administration of the project, e.g. the organising of workshops, and take up other duties and tasks, such as teaching, tutorial and laboratory supervision, as may reasonably be assigned by the supervisor.
