The Carlson laboratory has played a key role in the development of novel technologies for next-gen sequencing of somatically rearrange T cell and B cell receptors. A key arena for the application of these technologies is in the diagnosis of leukemia and lymphoma, and the detection of minimal disease in patients during and after treatment.

Responsibilities

We seek a postdoctoral fellow with experience in lymphocyte biology, adaptive immunology, or lymphoid malignancies and an interest in learning the other fields. The postdoc will be responsible for prosecuting two funded projects, one in B cell Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, and the other in Follicular Lymphoma. Responsibilities span the full length of the projects, from IRB and sample management to data quality control, analysis, and manuscript preparation.

Funding is guaranteed for 2 years, during which time the applicant will be both expected to compete for training grants and assist in the preparation of these proposals.

Qualifications

PhD in Immunology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or similar

Experience manipulating large-scale datasets is required: the candidate needs to be facile with one or more statistical packages (e.g. R, SAS, Splus), bioinformatics platforms (e.g. Python, Perl, BioPerl, Java, any flavor of C), or the core unix utilities for data manipulation (sed/awk/grep/cut).

At least two peer-reviewed publications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
