University Assistant (post doc) at the Department of Food Chemistry and Toxicology : 1090 Vienna, Austria
At the University of Vienna (15 faculties, 4 centres, about 188 fields of study, approx. 9.400 members of staff, more than 90.000 students) the position of a University Assistant (post doc) at the Department of Food Chemistry and Toxicology is vacant.

The group of Prof. Marko at the Institute of Food Chemistry and Toxicology at the faculty of Chemistry is dedicated to studies on cellular mechanisms of food constituents. The compound spectrum compromises potentially bioactive secondary plant metabolites (polyphenols), contaminants e.g. mycotoxins up to nanoparticles. In focus are potentially desirable cellular effects such as anticarcinogenic or antioxidative properties as well as application-limiting toxicologically relevant effects. Within the group a Zeiss Elyra PS.1 system equipped with PALM and SIM as well as equipment for life cell imaging is available. The advertised position is focused primarily to establish and conduct mechanistic studies by confocal microscopy.
Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week
Occupation group in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc)
On top of this relevant chargeable work experience determines the assessment to a particular salary grade.
Areas of work:
Studies on cellular Mechanisms of food constituents (polyphenols, mycotoxins, nanoparticles) with special emphasis on (superresolution) confocal microscopy, applying life cell imaging.
Profile:
PhD and Master Degree/Diploma in Chemistry, Biology or related discipline with sound knowledge in Toxicology, and experience in the field of confocal microscopy. The candidate is expected to hold classes due to the extent regulations of the wage agreement.
Experience with Live Cell Imaging, cell culture techniques as well as biochemical and molecular biological methods are desirable. Excellent knowledge of German and good knowledge of English are required.
