Research Fellow in Craniofacial Biology

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, postdoctoral research fellow to investigate NIH funded research at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Our research group utilizes a variety of molecular, cell biologic, pharmacologic and mouse genetic approaches to investigate craniofacial mesenchymal progenitor cell behavior and craniofacial bone development. We seek to establish fundamental regulators of craniofacial skeletal development and identify pathogenic processes leading to craniofacial anomalies. Our goal is to develop biomedical interventions for congenital and/or developmental craniofacial skeletal abnormalities. Our work is both basic and translational.

Responsibilities*

The primary responsibilities of the post-doctoral fellow will include: generate, analyze and prepare data for presentation and publication; participate in collaborative meetings of research group members; present research at meetings; and draft manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.

Required Qualifications*

The successful candidate should be a recent Ph.D. graduate with experience in cell, molecular and/or developmental biology with a strong record of creativity, scientific productivity, ability to work independently and ability to work within a group. 

Desired Qualifications*

Individuals with expertise in skeletal biology, craniofacial development, in vivo qualitative and quantitative analyses of transgenic/conditional/complete knockout mouse models; cell culture, organ culture, and/or rodent surgery, are strongly encouraged to apply.
