Postdoctoral Research Associate : Jupiter, FL, United States

A post-doctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Srini Subramaniam in the Department of Neuroscience, at the Scripps Research Institute-Florida (TSRI-Florida), to study the mechanisms of neurodegeneration. Dr. Subramaniam lab use cellular, molecular and behavioral tools, to identify novel targets for neurodegenerative diseases with the vision of developing mechanisms-based drugs for therapeutics. Why only selected regions of the brain are more vulnerable in neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s is one of the major challenges we are focusing to answer. We envision understanding the molecular mechanisms that elicits brain region-specific damage will provide insights into the etiology of the neurodegenerative diseases, and those insights will be crucial for developing strategies to block the initiation of disease process.

Candidate must hold a PhD degree and have a strong experience in cell signaling and protein-translation mechanisms and/or ubiquitin/SUMO pathway analysis. Experience in handling of cell/neuronal culture and mouse models is a plus. Neuroscience background is not essential, but should have demonstrated knowledge about cell signaling studies from other field. Candidate must be highly motivated and have the ability to work in a team. TSRI is an excellent medical research facility that focuses on research and education in the biomedical sciences, making it among the largest biomedical research organizations in the world.
