Postdoc / PhD Student in Biological NMR Spectroscopy : Munich, Germany

The group of Rasmus Linser is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher and a PhD student with experience in protein expression and solution NMR of proteins.

Our group is concerned with NMR methods development as well as protein structure and function in the solid as well as in the solution state. We will be using brand new 800 and 700 MHz Bruker spectrometers with various equipment dedicated for solution- and solid-state NMR locally.

The successful candidates will have expertise in protein expression and purification, most preferentially including reconstitution of membrane proteins and their structural elucidation by standard solution-NMRtechniques. An interest to involve solid-state NMR approaches and some understanding and interest in NMRtheory would also be desirable. Projects will concern structure and dynamics of soluble and membrane proteins and characterization of enzyme activity by NMR. Apart from your scientific excellency, you should be a team player and like and actively contribute to a congenial atmosphere.

For the PhD program, a Masters degree in chemistry, physics, biochemistry or similar with very good marks is required as well as some fundamental knowledge on and interest to get involved in the field of NMRspectroscopy including theory and application.
For postdoc positions, you must hold a PhD in structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics or a related discipline obtained recently, and your research experience should be demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.

We are just moving from the MPI for biophysical chemistry in Göttingen to LMU Munich (from April). This is a great opportunity for lots of inspired research and collaborations. Start of the project should be early summer 2016 at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the Ludwig Maximilians University at the science campus Großhadern/Martinsried, Munich. The department of chemistry is well-renowned for excellence in chemistry and biochemistry research and education and tightly connected with the Gene Center, the Excellence Cluster ‘Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich’ (CIPSM), the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, and participates in numerous collaborative research areas (SFBs) of the Munich area.
The positions are funded by the Cluster CIPSM (see link below) and the Emmy Noether program of the German Research Association.
