A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Natalie R. Gassman at the University of South Alabama Mitchell Cancer Institute (USA-MCI) in Mobile, AL, USA.
The laboratory is examining how combinations of environmental exposures alter the cellular microenvironment and DNA repair capacity in cells using innovative combinations of adductomics, cell biology, and confocal microscopy. Understanding the mechanisms by which these exposures damage DNA, alter damage response signaling, and/or bypass critical cell cycle checkpoints is essential to determining the role these exposures have in the development and progression of cancer. The Mitchell Cancer Institute is a highly interactive and collaborative research environment where interdisciplinary research approaches are utilized to help improve our understanding of cancer, its treatment, and its prevention.
A highly motivated individual with strong background in cell biology and experience in culturing primary and immortalized skin cells is sought to join this dynamic research group.
Qualifications
• PhD degree in toxicology, pharmacology or cancer biology.
• The project requires standard molecular biology techniques (qPCR, immunoblotting, host cell reactivation and immunofluorescence), cell line cultivation and maintenance, and standard cancer biology techniques (mutagenesis, colony formation, migration, invasion assays).
• Experience with skin cell models and co-culture of primary skin cell lines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
