Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral position in the design, expression, purification and characterization of proteins in the GPI and Glycoproteins group, department of Biomolecular Systems at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Berlin. The successful candidate will work on the molecular biology (cloning, expression and purification) of proteins in bacterial and mammalian cell expression systems. The expressed proteins will be used for the semi-synthesis of glycoproteins and GPI-anchored proteins by ligation with synthetic materials (Peptides, carbohydrates, glycolipids) .

Candidates should be highly motivated, enthusiastic, with an ability to think creatively and work independently as well as in an interdisciplinary scientific environment. Profound experience in molecular cloning, protein expression, isolation and characterization methods (mass spectrometry, chromatography, etc.), are required. Experience in protein ligation strategies and other ligation techniques as well as parasitology will be positively evaluated. Good English communications skills are necessary.
