Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT was founded with the objective of promoting Italy’s technological development and further education in science and technology. The research areas cover scientific topics of high innovative content representing the most advanced frontiers of modern technology, with wide application possibilities in various fields ranging from medicine to industry, from computer science to robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnology.

A postdoctoral position is available within NetS3 laboratory working on the development and experimental application of a novel generation of implantable probes incorporating active microelectronic circuits for monitoring in vivo neural activity at large-scale.The main aim of this position is to develop micro-/nano-structuring technologies for implantable neural probes.The candidate will be working for NetS3 laboratory withinIIT in Genova.

The candidate could also be involved in assessing the performance of the neuro-electronic devices under experimental conditions both at IIT and at Harvard Medical School in Boston as part of a formal collaborative program between IIT and Harvard Department of Neurobiology. Applicants should have a solid background on thin-film processes and structuring technologies and microelectronics. Knowledge in neuroscience, neuroengineering and on the experimental use of multielectrode array devices and other brain-implantable neural probes is helpful. Essential qualifications for this position include a PhD in physics, engineering or closely related disciplines.
