Hiring Range

Job Description
In collaboration with the Nature Conservancy (TNC) , the Center for Biodiversity Outcomes (CBO) at Arizona State University is pleased to invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in ecological risk assessment and ecosystem service valuation to join a vibrant and growing interdisciplinary research team.
The fellow will contribute to a portfolio of research projects led by faculty associates of ASU’s Center for Biodiversity Outcomes, addressing multiple aspects of environmental and non-market valuation.
The fellow will work with an interdisciplinary team of CBO-affiliated faculty and TNC scientists to develop a research program in the area of risk assessment, monitoring and valuation of biodiversity and natural capital in the business sector. Specific topics may include (a) estimation of the value of biodiversity and ecosystem services for specific corporate sectors including oil and gas, agriculture, mining as well as non-extractive sectors (b) the development of spatially –explicit or other decision-making tools for biodiversity and ecosystem service valuation, (c) supply chain sustainability valuation and analyses. The fellow will also be encouraged to develop individual research interests. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career researcher wishing to develop a strong research program.
Essential Duties
Conduct research; compile, analyze, and synthesize data; disseminate results in presentations and scientific publications.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. in ecology, environmental/ecological economics, or a related field by the start date of the appointment. Applicants who have not yet completed their doctorate must indicate the date the degree is expected.
- Applicants must have training or experience in market and non-market valuation methods.
- Evidence of prior research experience and publications, and highly developed analytical skills, as well as excellent communication skills.
- This position requires an ability to work both independently and with faculty, non-profit and corporate stakeholders from a variety of disciplines.
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrates experience in one or more of the following skills: survey research methods; statistical analysis or modeling; compilation and analysis of existing data from public sources; ecological modeling; institutional analysis.
