The Mobile Imaging, Sensing, and Diagnostics Lab at the North Carolina State University is seeking one postdoctoral candidate for developing new generation point-of-care diagnostic technology and platforms. The research will be focused on mobile phone based imaging/sensing technologies for personal diagnostics, plant disease, and food pathogen detection. The candidates are expected to have Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or other related fields. Candidates with expertise in lab on a chip, biosensing, and molecular diagnostic assays such as DNA amplification/sequencing, microarrays, and paper devices are strongly preferred; however, candidates with extensive experience in one of the following areas will also be considered: microfluidics, optics, nanoplasmonics, microfabrication, and MEMS. Successful candidates will join an interdisciplinary and collaborative team working with biologists and pathologists in CALS at NCSU as well as collaborators at Duke and UNC in the research triangle area.

Job responsibilities include:

•The candidate is expected to independently lead and execute the research projects;

•Actively participate and involve in collaborative research;

•Supervise undergraduate research activity in the group;

•Write manuscripts and proposals (if needed) independently.

This position is full-time and includes standard benefits. The appointment will be through the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at NCSU. The initial appointment will be for one year and renewable for additional years upon satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. Salary is commensurate with experience.
