Econic Technologies is a young, highly innovative, and fast growing chemical technology company. We are based in the Imperial College Incubator in South Kensington, London and develop and commercialise novel catalyst technologies to build CO2 into polycarbonates and other polymers. Our top-class Research & Development team is looking for a research chemist (1 position) with expertise in ligand synthesis, macrocyclic chemistry and/or catalyst development to join our catalyst team.

The Research Chemist will:

Design and synthesise new multidentate/macrocyclic ligand systems;

Develop new synthetic routes to ligands

Characterise and test new homogeneous complexes for polymerisation catalysis;

Work as part of a small catalyst development team.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to enjoy working with Econic team members, have excellent communication skills, be resourceful and self-motivated. Expert knowledge of Schiff base chemistry and macrocyclisation techniques and synthetic creativity are highly desirable.

Educational background and experience

A PhD in Inorganic/Organic chemistry including ligand/catalyst development, or 3 years of relevant industrial experience.

Excellent technical synthetic laboratory skills, in particular for the synthesis and manipulation of compounds under inert atmospheres and the use of spectroscopy for characterisation.

Experience and knowledge of polymer chemistry and/or polymerisation catalysis and characterisation desirable.

Ability to work as part of a small, highly focused team.
