TGen’s Precision Medicine Postdoctoral Scholars Program (PMed Scholars) is a selective award addressing the national need for research and physician scientists who are accomplished in the field and practice of genomic-enabled precision medicine. This is an intellectually rigorous and challenging opportunity for early career scientists who are committed to pursuing careers as independently funded, clinical and translational investigators. Upon completion of the program, successful PMed Scholars will be well suited for leadership positions in the fields of translational oncology and genomic medicine.
Work with Dr. Michael Berens and Lab – this involves design, execution, and supervision of technical personnel conducting experiments on the genetics and biochemistry (signal transduction pathways) underlying the invasive behavior of human tumor cells (primarily glioma). Job# IRC11448
Dr. Haiyong Han (pancreas cancer) seeks candidates interested in expanding the field of precision medicine and therapeutic discovery. Dr. Han’s laboratory aims to develop novel targeted therapies for patients with ad¬vanced pancreatic cancer. Candidates with Zebra Fish preferred. Job# IRC11273
The TGen Center for Rare Childhood Disorders (C4RCD) harnesses the latest technologic leaps in genome sequencing to pinpoint the causes of rare childhood disorders that largely remain a mystery to modern medicine. Seeking a highly qualified Ph.D. scientist to pursue biological validation studies that arise from genetic discoveries made at the Center for Rare Childhood Disorders (C4RCD). Such studies include cell biological, molecular biological, and animal modeling to probe mechanisms of disease and eventually lead to novel therapeutic approaches for neurogenetic disorders. Candidates with animal modeling preferred. Job# IRC12647
Dr. William Hendricks is currently seeking a postdoctoral fellow or Staff Scientist to lead- research regarding the genetic basis of naturally occurring canine cancers to aid both dogs and humans in the clinic. The lab aims to understand the genomic landscape of these cancers to enable personalized medicine and shepherd novel cancer treatments through comparative clinical trials. By -working closely with veterinary and academic collaborators, we seek to rapidly translate laboratory findings to the clinic.
Job# IRC12690
Dr. Kendall Van Keuren-Jensen's is seeking a candidate to work with her lab and collaborate with others in order to cross between transcriptomic, proteomic and IPS cell work to focus on extracellular vesicles, detectable in peripheral circulation, that can provide insights into cellular changes associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Job# IRC12808
Dr. Patrick Pirrotte is seeking a candidate who will study signal transduction pathways underlying the invasive behavior of pediatric brain tumors, with a specific focus on medulloblastoma and neuroblastoma. Approaches relying on proteogenomics, tumor biology and animal modeling will be employed to develop comprehensive therapeutic strategies. Candidates with cancer experience preferred. Job# IRC12827
About TGen
Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) is a Phoenix, Arizona-based non-profit organization dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research with life changing results. TGen is focused on helping patients with neurological disorders, cancer, and diabetes, through cutting edge translational research (the process of rapidly moving research towards patient benefit). TGen physicians and scientists work to unravel the genetic components of both common and rare complex diseases in adults and children. Working with collaborators in the scientific and medical communities literally worldwide, TGen makes a substantial contribution to help our patients through efficiency and effectiveness of the translational process. TGen is allied with City of Hope, a world-renowned independent research and cancer and diabetes treatment center. This precision medicine alliance enables both institutes to complement each other in research and patient care, with City of Hope providing a significant clinical setting to advance scientific discoveries made by TGen.
