Job Description

Stanford University School of Medicine: Postdoctoral Scholar in Critical Care Biomarker Discovery Researchposition available for highly motivated candidates to join the Department of Surgery, Division of Emergency Medicine starting in August/September 2014 to investigate transcriptomic profiling of critical illnesses for potential biomarker discovery in order to develop and validate biomarker assays for disease diagnosis and prognosis, as well as screen for targeted therapies and understand their mechanisms of action using analytical and clinical studies 

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree with strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology.

• Relevant prior hands-on experience in state-of-the-art methods such as Next Generation Sequencing (genomic, RRBS/MeDip and RNASeq, IonTorrent etc.), array-based miRNA/gene expression analysis, real-time PCRs and non-coding RNA work will be given preference

• Knowledge and experience with various bioinformatic and biostatistical analysis tools are highly preferred

• Must possess excellent writing and communication skills, a solid record of peer-reviewed publications, commitment to drive scientific projects, motivation for independent research and ability to deliver on agreed objectives

Applicants must be able to learn and develop new skills as required for the studies. Ability to work independently is expected.
