The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is seeking a postdoctoral or more senior researcher to work at the DIII-D National Facility in San Diego. The successful candidate will plan, perform and analyze experiments at the DIII-D National Fusion Facility in San Diego with strong a plasma control aspect. Examples of possible work topics include but are not limited to: ELM control using real-time analysis of the plasma; Real-time stability analysis for disruption avoidance; Detachment and radiation control; NTM control; Snowflake divertor control (more generally heat flux control). The successful candidate will be based in San Diego and is expected to travel nationally and internationally to interact with other leading experiments addressing similar issues and conduct joint experiments.
