Postdoctoral Fellow: Brain activation during functional movements in stroke patients, University of British Columbia : Vancouver, Canada

A unique opportunity is available for a postdoctoral fellow to work in the area of stroke, rehabilitation, and brain activation. This is a minimum two year position.

This experience will utilize near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) to measure brain activation and include some of the following research studies:

Determine regions of brain activation and their interactions during functional movements such as walking and reaching in stroke patients

Determine changes in brain activation during functional movements over the course of recovery from a stroke

Determine how brain activation during functional movements is affected by therapeutic treatments, as well as by factors such as size/location of brain injury after stroke.

The postdoctoral fellow will be under the direct supervision of Dr. Janice Eng (Canada Research Chair in Neurological Rehabilitation). See http://www.neurorehab.med.ubc.ca for current research activities.

Applicants will have a recent PhD in fields related to neuroscience or rehabilitation sciences. Experience with brain imaging and its analyses would be an asset. Applicants will have a track record in publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
