DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. More than 2400 employees work at our two locations Hamburg and Zeuthen in science, technology and administration.

The DESY astroparticle groups are involved in the major neutrino (lceCUBE) and gamma-ray observatories (H.E.S.S., MAGIC, VERITAS). lt is among the leading institutions in CTA and participating in the construction of this future major observatory. The experimental groups are accompanied by a vibrant astroparticle theory group.

The position

Contribute to the development of a joint framework for the analysis of data from neutrino and gamma-ray experimentsContribute to the development of joint metadata and data formats suitable for longterm archiving of data from astroparticle experimentsPerform physics analysis using data from lceCube, H.E.S.S., MAGIC, and VERITAS

Requirements

Ph.D. in physics or astronomyExperience in astroparticle, astronomy or particle physicsExperience in analysis for astroparticle physics experimentsKnowledge of programming (e.g. python) and high-performance computingExcellent knowledge of English

Salary and benefits are commensurate with those of public service organisations in Germany. Classification is based upon qualifications and assigned duties.
