柏林自由大学2020年博士后招聘(政治学科研究)

Fachbereich Politik- und Sozialwissenschaften - Otto-Suhr-Institut für Politikwissenschaft

Research Associate (Postdoc) (m / f / d)

full-time job, limited to three years, Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L FU

reference code: Fellow Hurrell ESB

Freie Universität Berlin, with funding from the Einstein Foundation, is seeking to employ: One research fellow.

The research fellow will work within the framework of the Cluster of Excellence ‘Contestations of the Liberal Script (SCRIPTS).

The Cluster of Excellence ‘Contestations of the Liberal Script’ (SCRIPTS) analyses the controversies surrounding the liberal order from a historical, global and comparative perspective. It involves inter-disciplinary collaboration across social sciences, law, history and area studies in Berlin; it develops collaboration with research institutions in all world regions; and it maintains cooperative ties with major political, cultural and social institutions. For more information, please visit http://www.scripts-berlin.eu

The Cluster of Excellence includes the Freie Universität Berlin, the WZB Berlin Social Science Centre, the Humboldt University of Berlin, the Hertie School of Government, the Centre for East European and International Studies, the German Institute for Economic Research, the German Institute for Global and Area Studies, and The Leibniz Centre for Modern Oriental Studies.

This position is linked to a three-year Einstein Visiting Fellowship held by Professor Andrew Hurrell. This aspect of the SCRIPTS programme is concerned with contestations in the making of modern global international society during the broad period of decolonization and of the emergence of what came to be call the Third World and Global South; with the way in which a wide range of liberal languages and liberal claims about global order emerged, evolved and came into conflict in this period, viewed both from the perspective of western states and those resisting western dominance, and embodied in intellectual visions, political movements and international institutional practices; and with on-going contestations over the nature of international and global order visible in the international relations of developing and emerging states in the post-colonial world, and over possible 21st century alternative futures, liberal and non-liberal.

Preparing content, planning and co-leading of two international workshops (one in 2021 and one in 2022) and contributing to other meetings of the Cluster, especially those linking Theory and History.
