美国NIH人口健康方向2020年博士后招聘

THEPOSITION: The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), seeks to identify an outstanding individual to lead its Division of Intramural Population Health Research (DIPHR), located in Rockville, Maryland. NICHD’s research activities are directed toward developing a greater understanding of the biological, medical, reproductive and behavioral aspects of normal and abnormal human development. DIPHR is a Division in NICHD’s intramural research program that focuses on innovative transdisciplinary population health through the integration of biological, epidemiologic, behavioral, and statistical sciences to address the mission of NICHD. The Director of DIPHR provides leadership for the three Branches in the Division (Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, and Social and Behavioral Sciences) and the Contraception Development Program. The ideal candidate will foster innovative population-based research that builds on the existing strengths within the Division, including designing and conducting etiologic and interventional studies focusing on reproduction, pregnancy, and the development of children and adolescents across the lifespan and in multiple generations. The Director of DIPHR reports to the NICHD Scientific Director, and plans, develops, organizes, implements, and directs a diverse and technically complex research program in population-based science, while providing intellectual leadership and mentorship to tenured and tenure-track scientists and trainees.

This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for an extremely capable individual to develop and implement an overall vision for the DIPHR and to plan and oversee its multifaceted research programs in population health. The Director of DIPHR will evaluate research efforts and establish program priorities, allocate resources, direct the training of pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellows, collaborate with other NIH programs, and advise the NICHD Scientific Director and senior staff on DIPHR programs and on areas of scientific interest to the Institute. The incumbent plays a key role in creating and maintaining a nurturing research environment that encourages creativity, collaboration among scientists from different disciplines, effective training of post-doctoral fellows, and efficient utilization of resources. In addition, the incumbent serves as a representative of NICHD and the NIH on trans-HHS or other federal committees. The DIPHR has a staff of 79 individuals and a current annual budget in excess of $36 million.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree, with an established track record of research accomplishment and demonstrated scientific leadership in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related area in population health relevant to maternal and child health or human development. The successful candidate will have a compelling vision for the future of the field, proven experience in managing and directing a scientific research program, and well-honed administrative and interpersonal skills. The NICHD seeks candidates who have a commitment to scientific excellence and the energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking necessary to maintain the DIPHR’s research efforts at the forefront of science. It is expected that the successful candidate will be tenure-eligible and be simultaneously appointed as a Senior Investigator in the NICHD intramural program with his/her own research projects.

SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate. A full package of Federal Civil Service benefits is available, including: retirement, health and life insurance, long term care insurance, leave, and a Thrift Savings Plan (401K equivalent).

EQUALOPPORTUNITYEMPLOYMENT: Selection for this position will be based solely on merit, with no discrimination for non-merit reasons such as race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, political affiliation, marital status, disability, age, or membership or non-membership in an employee organization.
