Postdoctoral Position in Protein Design

We are looking for a very motivated scientist with strong experimental skills to join our interdisciplinary protein design team in the Barth lab (https://www.bcm.edu/research/labs/patrick-barth) at Baylor College of Medicine.

We seek to understand how receptors faithfully transmit signals across biological membranes and how these critical functions are perturbed in diseases. We address these questions using a combination of molecular modeling (Rosetta and others), bioinformatics and experimental approaches to model, design and reprogram ligand/receptor/effector interaction networks. We aim at deconstructing the complex function and at quantitatively describing the basic principles underlying these signaling networks. Using this knowledge, we are also designing novel therapeutics targeting deregulated, disease-associated receptors.

Basic qualification required: Recent PhD in Biochemistry or Biophysics with strong experience in molecular biology, biophysical techniques for studying protein structure, protein stability, protein-protein or protein-ligand interactions.

Candidates who have also a good background in mammalian, insect cell cultures, membrane protein expression, purification, crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, confocal microscopy are particularly welcome to apply.

The laboratory is affiliated to the Departments of Pharmacology and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, the Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine. The laboratory has fully equipped dry and wet lab spaces.
