Role & Superannuation rate: Academic - Full time - 17% super

Salary: Level A - $75,289 - $102,163 p.a. or Level B - $107,547 - $127,707 p.a. plus 17% superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.

About the role: The Methods and Implementation Support for Clinical and Health (MISCH) research Hub based at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne and the Population Health and Immunity division based at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research are seeking a biostatistician to contribute to the design, analysis and reporting of observations studies and clinical trials.

Part of the role (0.4 FTE) will be advising on the statistical aspects of clinical research such as study design and sample size determination, perform statistical analyses of data, prepare reports and contribute to publications presenting research findings, and part (0.6 FTE) on ongoing statistical support of large international randomised controlled trials in children and women with anaemia in low and middle-income countries. At MISCH, you will be part of a group of researchers in biostatistics and clinical epidemiology who provide collaborative research support. At the Population Health and Immunity division you will be a member of a diverse group of researchers including biostatisticians working on projects that aim to address the global burden of anaemia through innovative field trials, translational studies and experimental laboratory.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and career as a biostatistician in observational studies and clinical trials while working in a collaborative academic research environment.

The position is available for 2 years.

About you: Minimum Qualifications Required: Master's Degree in biostatistics or statistics.

Essential skills and Experience required to fulfil the position: -Demonstrated ability to apply research methodologies and quantitative data analysis. -Experience with statistical software such as Stata or R for data handling and statistical analysis. -Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills, including effective communication of statistical concepts to people with limited statistical knowledge. -Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and collegially in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project goals and meet agreed deadlines. -Demonstrated ability to maintain high work standard under guidance and work on multiple projects concurrently.
