A short-term postdoctoral research fellow vacancy is available to assist with the completion of a UKRI NERC COP26 project entitled: 'Diversification of potential crop species in brackishwater aquaculture, adaptation for climate resilience.' Appointees will be based in the School of Ocean and Earth Science, University of Southampton at the Waterfront Campus, National Oceanography Centre Southampton.

The Fellow, working with the Project lead in Southampton and the Co- Investigator institute (Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture) will compile a literature database of global reports of temperature and salinity tolerance of aquaculture-relevant decapod crustaceans, including all shrimp (Dendrobranchiata) and relevant crabs, crayfish and lobsters (Pleocyemata). Thereafter, the Fellow will develop a systematic synthesis of salinity tolerance data, providing global context for the associated laboratory work being conducted in India.

At the end of this pilot project, the Fellow will join the UK team in presenting their findings at a stakeholder dissemination meeting at CIBA in Chennai, India. It is planned that this meeting will take place in person in India, with a virtual meeting being used - depending on global travel constraints at the time.

The successful candidate must have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in marine or biological sciences.

The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
