A post-doctoral research associate position is available from 1st December within Professor Robin Franklin's Division of Stem Cell Neurobiology, Department of Clinical Neurosciences. The group has extensive expertise in the biology of myelin and demyelinating disorders, as well as in stem cell research and this is a great opportunity to work in a world class research environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic post-doc to work on a project funded by Action Medical Research designed to develop and assess a novel method for isolating postnatal brain neural stem and progenitor cells (NSCs).

The project aims in providing translational proof-of-principle of a new method of harvesting autologous NSCs for cell therapies in the neonatal and infants brain, with a target on leukodystrophies (untreatable disorders of the CNS characterized by white matter degeneration).

Applicants must possess:

• A good first degree and completed a PhD in developmental biology, stem cell biology, neurosciences or related field.
• Proven knowledge of stem cell biology, NSC maintenance, culture and differentiation. Experience in CNS anatomy and manipulation will be advantageous
• Experience in cell culture and models of neurodegeneration
• Proven publication record.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
