Postdoctoral fellow in cancer biology

Boston Children's Hospital

A postdoctoral research fellow position is available in the Alejandro Gutierrez lab in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. Our overarching interests are to unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance to cancer therapy, and devising novel strategies for therapeutic intervention. Our approach combines unbiased genetic screens with functional genetics and experimental therapeutics in genetically engineered mouse/zebrafish and patient-derived models of cancer. Our recently published studies describing the potent therapeutic interaction of GSK3α inhibition and asparaginase are emblematic of our approach (Cancer Cell, 2019;35:664 and Cancer Discovery, 2020;10:1690). Available projects are focused on the molecular regulation of the GSK3α-dependent response to asparagine starvation, and defining new mechanisms of resistance to conventional and immune-based cancer therapeutics.

A doctoral degree (PhD or MD) is required, together with a strong track record of productivity, as evidenced by first-authored publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The ideal candidate will have a track record of applying innovative experimental strategies to tackle important biologic problems, together with the communication and interpersonal skills required to make a positive contribution to a thriving intellectual environment. Full-time position with competitive salary/benefits commensurate with experience.
